If you haven’t received your mail item after 7 business days then it’s time to submit a Missing Mail Search Request online by visiting this link. Follow the instructions shared below to successfully submit a Missing Mail Search Request.
In order to let USPS find or locate your missing mail, please provide correct information while filling a Missing Mail Search Request.
- Enter tracking number
- Mailing Date
- Service Type
- Choose where you want to receive your mail item if it is located.
- Enter your contact information such as Email address and phone number.
- Describe item in your mail piece by searching mail type.
- Select category
- Read disclaimed
- Hit Continue button.
After you submit a search request, you will get a confirmation email from USPS. You will also receive periodic updates about the search. Also, note that submitting a search does not guarantee a successful outcome. The Mail Recovery Center cannot search for or return the following items:
- Hazardous Material
- Over the Counter Drugs
- Live Ammunition
- Prescription Drugs
- Opened Hair/Beauty Products
- Handguns – e.g. pistols, revolvers etc

What if my mail is not located after submitting Missing Mail Search Request?
As mentioned above that submitting missing mail research doesn’t guarantee a successful outcome. If that’s the case, then you’re left with two options:
Requesting a Refund

USPS offers a service called FIile a Claim in which a user can claim the refund of a service if it is not fulfilled by the USPS or if an item is lost or damaged during the shipment.
