It’s easier, secure, and convenient to send money internationally. Visit your local post office to purchase a money order of up to $700 ($500 for El Salvador and Guyana). Make payment of money order with your debit card, credit card, or traveler’s checks. There are many countries that allow exchanging postal money orders. Use services such as Priority Mail Express International service, Priority Mail International service, First-Class Mail International service, or First-Class Package International to send the international money order.

As mentioned above that there is a limitation on the amount of money that can be sent through one money order. The maximum value for a single postal international money order is $700 ($500 for El Salvador and Guyana). However, there is no limitation on the number of money orders that can be sent to a payee during any time period.

What to do in case of Lost or Damaged Money Order?

In case of a damaged money order, you need to visit your local post office with a damaged money order and receipt. USPS will replace money orders that are damaged. While in case of a lost or stolen money order you need to follow the following steps:

  • Visit your local post office and submit PS Form 6401 with an inquiry fees of $5.95.
  • Then USPS will confirm the status of your money order and then issue a replacement.
